1ST RACE—JUNIOR FLAT RACE–PONIES About 1/2 mile, Riders are not to have reached their 16th birthday as of the first of the year, riding ponies on the flat. Catch weights. See Marlborough Hunt Race Conditions for specific regulations. $25 Groom Award. 2ND RACE—MAIDEN FLAT About 1 mile, for 3-year-olds and upward that have never won a race. 3-year-olds 145 lbs., 4-year-olds 155 lbs., older horses 160 lbs. $500 Purse, $50 Groom Award. 3RD RACE—MAIDEN HURDLE, 1ST DIVISION About 2 miles, for 3-year-olds and upward that have not won a race over hurdles, brush or natural fences. 3-year-olds 140 lbs., 4-year-olds 150 lbs., older horses 157 lbs. $1,000 Purse, $50 Groom Award. EXHIBITION For Juniors who have not reached their 7th birthday as of the first of the year, on ponies. All ponies must have a leadline attached to their bridle and must be accompanied by an adult. Entries breaking out of the trot must go behind the last entry in the field before continuing or may be disqualified. Distance: About 1/16 mile. *4TH RACE—NOVICE TIMBER About 3 miles, for 4-year-olds and upward that have not won a timber race as of the first of the current year, 5 lbs. added per win since the first of the current year. 4-year-olds 150 lbs., 5-year-olds 160 lbs., older horses 165 lbs. $2,500 Purse, $50 Groom Award *5TH RACE—AMATEUR RIDER OPEN FLAT About 2 miles on the flat for Amateur Riders on 3 year olds and upward. 150 lbs. $500 Purse, $50 Groom Award. 6TH RACE—MAIDEN HURDLE, 2ND DIVISION About 2 miles, for 3-year-olds and upward that have not won a race over hurdles, brush or natural fences. 3-year-olds 140 lbs., 4-year-olds 150 lbs., older horses 157 lbs. $1,000 Purse, $50 Groom Award. *7TH RACE—OPEN TIMBER About 3 miles, for 4-year-olds and upward. 4-year-olds 150 lbs., 5-year-olds 160 lbs., older horses 165 lbs. $5,000 Purse, $50 Groom Award 8TH RACE—OPEN FLAT, 1ST DIVISION About 1 mile, for 3-year-olds and upward. 3-year-olds 145 lbs., 4-year-olds 155 lbs., older horses 160 lbs. $500 Purse, $50 Groom Award *9TH RACE— OPEN FLAT, 2ND DIVISION About 1 mile, for 3-year-olds and upward. 3 year olds 145 lbs. 4 year olds 155 lbs. Older horses 160 lbs. $500 Purse, $50 Groom Award *10TH RACE—YOUNG ADULT FLAT RACE–HORSES About 1 mile, open to amateur riders 15-18-year olds, riding horses 4 yrs. old and up on the flat. Rider’s age given at entry. Any rider younger than 15 must seek approval from the committee before entering. Catch weights. $50 Groom Award. 11TH RACE—HUNT TEAM RELAY RACE Flat, about 2 miles, 4 members per team, each team member to ride 1/2 lap (approximately 1/2 mile each) and pass baton to the next member. Entries will be limited to 5 teams, Governor’s Cup Hunt Club Teams preferred, additional entries may be accepted to fill the race. Team members must be members of the Hunt Club for which they are riding, and can not ride in any other race of the day except junior races. Horses must be fairly hunted (6 times, by rider, during the past season) and may not be cross entered in any other race of the day. To be ridden in hunting tack and attire, catch weights. Baton provided at meet. Open to Maryland hunt clubs participating in the Governor’s Cup Series. Team must be nominated by the club, with horses and riders approved by the Masters. Each team member pays entry fee; winning team receives 50% of total team entries plus $500 and EcoGold saddle pads. 5 team limit. $50 Groom Award.
