This year, Potomac Hunt will celebrate the 59th Running of the Potomac Hunt Races on Sunday, May 20, 2012 once again generously hosted by the Kiplinger family at their beautiful estate in Seneca, Maryland.

The Potomac Hunt is honored to have The Yellow Ribbon Fund, as the beneficiary of the Potomac Hunt Races this year. Established in 2005, the Yellow Ribbon Fund is a nonprofit organization focused on assisting injured service members and their families throughout their recovery and their reintroduction into the community. The Yellow Ribbon Fund will use income from the races to take service members to sporting events, provide housing for visiting families, supply taxi vouchers and rental cars. The Potomac Hunt is proud to be part of an effort to give back to those who have given so much for this country.

The Potomac Hunt Races is one of the final steeplechase races of the spring season. Horses race on the turf and over fences, while spectators enjoy the thrills of the sport as well as the food and beverages of their tailgate parties. A kid-friendly event, The Races offer pony rides, moon bounces, and face painting for the younger race day attendees. The presentation of the colors by the Maryland National Capital Park Police marks the official start of the day at the races. They also do a wonderful presentation of their training techniques for their magnificent mounts. In between races there is plenty to occupy the race patrons interests on vendor row where they can admire hats and clothing, beautiful handcrafted jewelry or just purchase a big bag of sweet and sticky kettle corn .
